Why should I spend money on a house I'm leaving?
You should only spend money on projects that will bring a return on your investment. Home staging is not redecorating or remodeling. In fact, in most homes personal items and some furniture may be removed to give a more spacious and less personalized atmosphere.
You may be advised to purchase small items such as thick, soft towels which will make your bathroom feel rejuvenated and comfortable, and you will take those with you when you move. Other times repainting or wallpaper removal may be recommended, or other minor updates suggested. Any permanent changes made to the home are designed to invigorate it and result in a theme that appeals to a broad range of people. These details are important and increase the chances that your home will sell quickly.
Your goal is to spend as little money as possible for as big a return as possible.
My house is already decorated and I like it. Why change it?
Your house is a reflection of who you are. You arrange your furniture in a way that suits your family, and you fill your home with objects that have meaning to you. That is exactly the way you should live in your home -- in the way that makes you comfortable and happy.
You are not selling your lifestyle or your belongings, however. When a potential buyer sees a home filled with your things, he has a hard time imagining that he could live there. A tour of your home will make him feel as if he were invading your space, when we want him to picture himself living there. A less personalized space will showcase your house instead of your possessions, and will let him imagine your house as his home.
Buying a house is an emotional undertaking. By appealing to a buyer's emotions and helping him mentally make your house his home, your house can become a hot property.
Why should I use a home stager? My realtor can give me advice.
There are many professionals involved in selling your home. We have all observed each other and know something about the other jobs involved, but Realtors are experts at showing and selling just as inspectors and home loan officers are experts in their fields. Home stagers specialize in making your house ready for the Realtor to sell.
I'm selling by owner to save money. Won't this be expensive?
When you sell by owner, you need an edge on your competition who will have the advantages of Realtor advice and advertising. If your home is staged, you may have suggested projects to complete, but you will only spend money that will make you money in the long run. In addition, Best Impressions Home can provide you with open house preparation, digital photographs, and other marketing tools to help you sell your house.

Payment can be made by cash, check, or money order and is due at each appointment. Payments can be made online through PayPal using any major credit card prior to the appointment.
If you choose to cancel your appointment, please give at least 24 hours notice, otherwise a $25 fee will apply.
Painting, repairs, and cleaning services are not provided in the consultation or staging fees. Numbers for contractors who supply these services with a priority courtesy to my clients can be provided, if you choose to use them.
